Who is it suitable for?
Amore Beauty and Laser's Peels are suitable for all skin types 1 – 6. Each peel targets different concerns and your therapist will help determine the best peel for your skin goals. They can even be layered into a bespoke formula just for you.
How many treatments are best?
This really depends on your concern and your skin goals. Peels start working straight away and if you’re looking for a quick ‘glow-up’, all you need is one peel. But many skin conditions take time to correct – especially if you’re treating acne or pigmentation, which is when a programme of peels is recommended. For the best results, our Programmes combine peels, treatments and at-home skincare for a total treatment solution that delivers lasting results.
What can I expect after?
The good news is, there’s no downtime with our Signature Peels so you can get back to work or head out straight away. Your skin may be a little flush and feel warm immediately after the treatment, but this typically subsides within 4 – 6 hours. Some people experience mild flaking of the skin, which is the skin shedding itself. Other people may experience no flaking at all. Either way, don’t worry. It’s completely normal and simply down to your skin’s sensitivity.
Does it hurt?
No, our Peels don’t hurt – though, if you’re new to peels you will likely feel some tingling, itchiness or warmth during the treatment, depending on the peel type. Don’t worry, this is completely normal and a sign the peel is getting to work exfoliating your skin.
How long between treatments?
It’s recommended that our Peels are performed every 2 – 4 weeks.
How does it work?
Put simply, skin peels clear away old skin and stimulate the regeneration of new skin. To do this, peels embrace the power of naturally derived acids or chemicals and different ingredients combat different concerns. Here’s how they work:
-
Our skin naturally replaces itself every 28 days, but this process slows down as we age. The naturally derived acids in peels help to give this process a real boost.
-
Some acids, called Alpha Hydroxy Acids, or AHAs, go to work from the outside-in. AHAs essentially remove the “glue” or binding that holds the old, dead skin cells to the new.
-
By releasing and shedding the old cells, our skin looks brighter and healthier because it’s the old, dead cells that make our skin look dull and lead to congestion.
-
Other acids, called Beta Hydroxy Acids, or BHAs, penetrate deep into the skin and work from the inside-out, breaking down the oil and congestion that cause acne and blackheads.
-
Different acids and therefore different peels treat different concerns – including acne, fine lines & wrinkles, texture, tone, sun damage, pigmentation and even scarring.
-
There are peels that are fantastic for an instant lift and glow, and others that work over time to resolve deep-seated and ongoing concerns.
-
Their potency can be dialled up or down to suit different skin types, so there really is a peel for everyone and every concern.

Whatever the case, maintaining a programme of peels has many benefits for your skin. In essence, you’re kicking it into a process of cell renewal, which means healthier skin. We can’t wait to help you live your best skin, so chat to one of our therapists today.
FAQ
01.
What are acid or chemical skin peels?

Acid and chemical skin peels use the process of applying an acid or chemical solution to the skin to accelerate your skin’s natural cell renewal. This is a form of accelerated exfoliation, where your skin sheds off a layer, making room for new, healthier skin. They can be used treat many skin issues like acne, dryness, dullness, fine lines, wrinkles and sun damage.
02.
How does it feel? Do most peels hurt?

You may feel stinging, heat and even itching while the peel in performed. Those sensations will stop once the peel is over. Your skin therapist will check in with you throughout the peel, to ensure you don’t feel any discomfort.
03.
What are the benefits of Chemical Peels?

• Improve the texture of your skin
• Increase the cell turnover rate of your skin
• Improve your skin’s ability to hold moisture
• Help your skin produce more collagen
• Reduce fine lines
• Decrease hyperpigmentation
• Unclog pores and help clear up acne
• Leave your skin smooth
• Make your skin softer
• Make your skin look more even-toned
• Give you a “glow”
• Make your skin look dewy
• Improve minor scarring and marks left by previous acne
04.
Are Chemical or Acid peels safe and what are the side effects?

You should understand that all acid and chemical peels carry some risks and uncertainties. Chemical and acid peels are usually very safe procedures when performed by a qualified and experienced skin therapist. Chemical and acid peels can cause, in rare cases, the below side effects: Redness – normal healing from a peel involves redness of the treated skin. Scarring – a skin peel can cause scarring, although this is very rare and typically appears on the lower part of the face. Changes in colour – a skin peel can cause the treated skin to become darker than normal or lighter than normal. Changes in skin colour are more common in people who have darker skin and can be permanent. Infection – a peel can cause a flare-up of cold sores. Rarely, a peel can lead to an infection.
05.
How long does it take to heal after a peel?

Treated areas take one to seven days to heal after a light chemical peel. New skin might temporarily be lighter or darker than normal. After a medium to strong strength chemical peel, treated skin may be red, tight and swollen. Some people see results immediately after treatment, or as little as 5 days after. Other people won’t see results until about three weeks following their peel once new skin has regenerated.
06.
How can I maximise my results?

For the very best results, we recommend a series of skin peels followed by an LED Light Treatment to increase your skin’s cell renewal and speed up the skin’s natural healing process. Prescribed homecare products are essential to achieving optimum results. To further maximise results we recommend the use of mini peels in between your clinic visits to maintain and accelerate your in-clinic results.
